Experienced striker Leon Mettam (pictured), 34, had re-joined Worksop Town in June 2019 after their return to the Northern Premier Division One South East and was then appointed as player-coach of Skegness Town in May 2020.

Originally with Lincoln City, where he made 5 appearances, he went on to have spells with Stamford, Corby Town and Gainsborough Trinity before joining the Tigers for the first time in 2012.

And in his final season, he notched over 50 goals as the club finished in the NPL play-offs. He has since played for the likes of Tamworth, King`s Lynn Town and Spalding United.

Joining brother Danny, who moved to Westfield Lane last April, is Josh Burns.

The 20-year-old arrives from league rivals Sheffield FC having also played with his brother at Stafford Rangers, who he joined in July 2019 having been released by League One Lincoln City at the end of the 2018/19 season after the second year of his scholarship.

He spent part of the 2018/19 campaign on `work experience` with then-Northern Counties East League side Shirebrook Town.

Barks is a central defender who joined on a permanent basis from SkyBet League Two side Scunthorpe United after being released by the Iron at the end of the 2020/21 season.

He had two previous loan spells with Frickley, the first being in September 2020 and the second beginning in December 2020.

Left-sided defender Bradley Beatson, 24, returns to Frickley from Northern Counties East Leaguers Maltby Main.

He had moved to Sheffield FC in June 2019 from NPL Premier side Matlock Town and then switched to Frickley in November 2019 before moving to Maltby Main in the summer of 2020.

He began his career at Sheffield Wednesday before a move followed to Gainsborough Trinity. Boston United paid a fee for his services, but he went back on loan to Gainsborough.

When Boston did not retain him in the summer of 2018, he moved briefly to Stocksbridge Park Steels before joining Matlock in September 2018.

Central defender Charlie Barks joins the club on a more permanent basis from League Two Scunthorpe United.

The 18-year-old originally joined the Blues at the end of September 2020 on loan but the pandemic cut his period short.

Midfielder Nathan Whitehead, 31, joins from NPL Premier Division Matlock Town, where he had returned for a second spell having been with the club for a short time during the 2017/18 season before departing for Leek Town.

He re-joined from Lincoln United, having been at Spalding United before his first move to Matlock, where he was part of side which qualified for the play-offs.
