Goalkeeper
Finley Iron has been recruited to fill the void left between the posts by Josh
Pope after the brother of England keeper Nick Pope recently opted to return to Thurlow
Nunn League side Mildenhall Town after four seasons with the Greens.
Iron (pictured) moves to Julius Martin Lane from new league rivals Yaxley.
The
21-year-old signed for the Cuckoos in the summer of 2020 after leaving
Cambridge United.
He
came through the ranks at the Abbey Stadium and made one cup appearance for the
senior side.
He
also had loan spells with St Neots Town and St Ives Town whilst on the U`s
books.
And
the 'keeper has been joined by another product of the Cambridge United academy
Sam Bennett, also from Yaxley.
The
20-year-old made a permanent move to the Cuckoos in July 2020 following his
release by Cambridge.
He
failed to make the senior side at the Abbey Stadium but has experience in
non-League football.
In
January 2019, he joined then-Isthmian League North side Mildenhall Town on
`work experience` and did likewise with Haverhill Rovers.
He
was leading scorer for Cambridge`s under-18 side at the time, with his
double-figure tally including two hat-tricks.
In
November 2019, Bennett joined Yaxley on loan having just completed a similar
spell with league rivals St Neots Town, where he made 14 appearances and scored
2 goals.
He
played 18 times for the Cuckoos and scored an impressive 5 times. |
