He made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Spitfires, finishing as the club’s top scorer in the 2020/21 season with 12 goals from left-back – including a 100% record from the penalty spot.

He also picked up the young player of the season and supporters’ player of the season awards.

The 21-year-old joined Eastleigh in June 2020 from National League South side Hungerford Town.

The full-back started his career with Yeovil Town and then joined Brighton & Hove Albion, where he turned out for the Seagulls` under-23 side and also spent time on loan with Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Bognor Regis Town before signing for Hungerford in July 2019.

He captained the Crusaders and was voted the league’s young player of the season for 2019/20.

Eastleigh manager Ben Strevens told https://www.eastleighfc.com: “I’d like to thank Joe for his efforts this season, it was clear from when he joined that he was a talented player with a great attitude on and off the pitch.

“Of course, we would have loved to keep him at the club but the opportunity to make the step up to the Championship is fantastic for him and we wouldn’t want to stand in his way.

“It’s great for the club that we have continued to help players progress into the Football League after being with us, and I would like to wish Joe all the best at Peterborough and for the rest of his career”.
