Hallett,
who was expected to be a big part of manager Paul Halsey's plans for the coming
season, has departed blaming the 3G surface for wear and tear on his legs.
The
now 35-year-old moved to Ware last month having re-joined Waltham Abbey in July
2020 from then-Isthmian North rivals Canvey Island, where he had been for the
fourth time since August 2019.
He
returned this time from Isthmian Premier Cheshunt where he had been in
free-scoring form since joining in 2015, helping the club to promotion via the
play-offs.
He
first joined Canvey via the youth and reserve sides after joining from Waltham
Abbey.
He
made his senior debut for the club in the Conference before leaving to have a
three-year spell with Chelmsford City upon the Gulls resignation from the
league.
He
went on to sign twice more, first in September 2009 from Chelmsford and then
again in December 2013 from island neighbours Concord Rangers.
He
has also played for East Thurrock United.
Hallett
appeared in six of Ware`s nine pre-season games and scored 5 goals, the kind of
scoring rate Halsey was probably hoping for in league and cup games.
Hallett's
reasons for leaving are interesting and with the increasing number of
artificial surfaces being laid, may point to a potential problem for the more
experienced players. |
