Barnes, 20, plays predominantly on the left of midfield and has been at the City Ground since the age of 8.

The Forest youngster, who is a member of the under-23 squad, also featured for the first-team under Chris Hughton during pre-season and will join the White Tigers to gain further first-team experience.

Having also penned a new contract to extend his stay with the club recently, Barnes says he's now keen to continue his development.

Forest`s under-23 head coach Andy Reid told https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk: "Josh is somebody who's been in our system for a long time and he's progressed nicely through the academy.

"The time is right for him to go out on loan, and this is the next step for his progression. We've got a great link with Truro, and we've sent the likes of Will Swan there before who had a great spell.

"It'll be a great experience for him and one that he'll come back in better shape from.

"We feel that Josh getting first-team football in a men`s league week-in week-out will only benefit him further and we look forward to seeing how he progresses".
