The striker is no stranger to Purps manager Michael Ellison, having worked together to great success at Runcorn Linnets.

Potter was somewhat of a talismanic figure across two spells at Linnets, scoring 75 goals in 138 appearances.

He has also represented Marine AFC, Burscough and AFC Liverpool and joins the Purps having left new league rivals Warrington Rylands at the conclusion of last season.

He has been training with the Purps during pre-season and featured in friendlies against Vauxhall Motors and Atherton Collieries.

Ellison told https://www.cityofliverpoolfc.co.uk: “Freddie is someone I know really well from my time at Runcorn.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and most importantly he will get you goals.

“Once he’s got his match fitness and gets up to speed, he will be a great addition to the squad. I’m glad to have him on board”.
