Colin
Oppong, Ola Bello and Tommy Smith have all moved to Crown Meadow initially for
a month and will be eligible for Saturday`s home game against Alvechurch.
Oppong (pictured),
19, is a Northern Ireland-born striker who has been with the Trawlerboys on
loan before, joining in September 2020 for a month.
Originally
with Irish side Cliftonville`s academy, he came over to England to join Ipswich
in January 2019 and has also had a loan stint in the Isthmian League North
Division with Bury Town in 2019/20.
Bello,
18, is a Nigerian forward who joined the Ipswich academy in July 2019 and
signed a one-year professional contract on July 1st.
Smith,
19, is a left back who is the only one of the trio to have tasted first team
football with Ipswich, appearing as a second half substitute in a 1–1 draw with
Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy in December 2019.
He
signed his first professional contract in February 2020 and, like Oppong, was
loaned to Bury Town, playing 19 times in 2019/20.
Godbold
told his club`s website: "I'd like to thank Ipswich for allowing us to
take the boys on loan. It means we now have really good depth and experience
within the first team, and this will create competition for us. Colin, we have
seen before, and his physical presence will give us something we've liked at
the top end of the pitch. Ola is a pacey attacking player who can nick a goal
and gives us good options in the number nine shirt. Tommy is a left footed
defender and will give us more senior defenders to pick from.
"Everyone
can see our start hasn't been what we would have wanted so now with the extra
competition, our battle has to start amongst ourselves on the training pitch.
If we can push each other for more in the right way I've got no doubt we can
start to put together some good sequences of results". |
