Midfielder Craig Carney (pictured) re-joins from league rivals Matlock Town.

The 28-year-old, an experienced, creative player, signed for the Gladiators in November 2020 from Warrington Town, where he had been since August 2020.

He started out as a youngster at Southport and has played for Kendal Town, Bamber Bridge, Northwich Victoria, Squires Gate and Lancaster City. He made 47 appearances for the Mariners in 2018/19, scoring 7 goals.

He joined NPL Division One West outfit Clitheroe in October 2019 from FC United of Manchester, having signed for the Reds from Marine AFC in May 2019.

Challenging for the goalkeeper`s jersey will be Polish-born Mateusz Hewelt.

The former Everton under-23 keeper returns to the North-West following a spell playing the Polish First Division for Miedz Legnica.

The third new arrival is 24-year-old midfielder Brayden Shaw.

Shaw joins Brig having signed for then-JD Cymru Premier champions Connah`s Quay Nomads a year ago.

He had played for Lancashire Amateur League outfit Old Blackburnians ahead of moving to North Wales.

He returned to the Welsh top-flight after a two-year exile, where he was part of the Bangor City side which finished second.

Shaw had played 22 times for Bangor in the 2017/18 season after joining them from Accrington Stanley.

He later moved on to Cardiff City where he featured for their under-23 side.
