The
club have accepted the resignations and have placed on record its thanks to
both for their efforts since arriving shortly before the end of the
curtailed 2020/21 season and have wished them both the best for the
future.
Lovell (pictured) was appointed in January 2021 following the departure of Brad Quinton.
Former
Gillingham manager Lovell had been out of football since leaving his position
as director of football at Ebbsfleet United at the start of September 2020.
After
spells in charge at clubs including Sittingbourne, Ashford United and Hastings
United, Lovell got his dream role when he took over at Gillingham from Ady
Pennock in October 2017.
During
his first season, the Gills finished in 17th spot, and they improved the
following campaign to sit 13th in League One.
However,
he lost his job towards the end of that campaign and Gillingham turned to Steve
Evans to take over at Priestfield.
Lewis
also returned to Welling as assistant boss at the same time, just days after he
was named by league rivals Billericay Town as the new number two to Kevin
Watson.
