The 23-year-old joins from JD Cymru Premier side Haverfordwest County.

The midfielder joined the Bluebirds in the summer of 2020 from Cymru South side Cambrian & Clydach Vale, providing him with his first opportunity of top-flight football after impressing in the second tier.

He became an integral part of the midfield as Wayne Jones’ side went on to have an excellent first season back in the top flight of Welsh football.

Corey (pictured) is the son of Martyrs` legend Garry Shephard, who spent many years as a prolific marksman at Pennydarren Park, as well as with Newport County, and managed Merthyr in two spells.

Merthyr manager Dean Clarke told his club`s website: “I'm absolutely delighted to get this deal over the line.

"Sheppy is a player who has been on our radar for some time and it's great to finally get him here at Merthyr.

"He will be a great addition to the squad, and I look forward to working with him for the rest of the season".

Merthyr have also signed versatile Welshman Dylan Jones from league rivals Salisbury.

The 19-year-old joined the Whites in July.

Capable of playing in multiple positions, he is a strong runner with and without the ball.

He was previously with Vanarama National League North side Hereford FC, who he joined on a non-contract basis in November 2020.

He went out on dual registration with Midland League Premier Division outfit Worcester City whilst on the Bulls` books.

He previously enjoyed brief stints with Cardiff City under-23s, Swansea City and Newport County.
