The
20-year-old joined the Ammies from Vanarama National League outfit Wrexham in
the summer of 2020 after being at The Racecourse since he moved back over the
Welsh border from Accrington Stanley at the age of 12.
Sargent (pictured) began his senior career at Wrexham in 2018 having a loan spell with then-JD
Cymru Premier side Airbus UK Broughton and represented Wales at youth level.
On
joining Salford, he was sent out on loan to NPL Division One West side Widnes
to gain more first-team experience, his first-team debut for Salford coming in
an EFL Trophy tie against Leicester City under-21s in December 2020.
Manager
Paul Phillips told https://www.matlocktownfc.co.uk: “I tried to
bring Matt in a few weeks ago but Salford wanted him to play in their first
team in the EFL Trophy games. Having watched him quite a few times he’s perfect
for what we want.”
However,
Aram Soleman, who only arrived at Matlock from Southern League Premier Division
side Tamworth last weekend, is returning to his former side, National League
North Guiseley AFC.
