Salford-born, he is a centre-back by trade. He represented Bury at under-12 to the under-18 level and played a major role in them reaching the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup in the 2018/19 season.

He was snapped up by Bolton Wanderers under-18s in October 2019 and less than two months later, he was in Spurs’ under-18s.

Skinner quickly climbed the footballing ladder and impressed at Tottenham to earn himself a contract and was described as a `wonderkid`.

However, he was released in the summer of 2021, having appeared in the under-23s and had trials with Sunderland earlier this year.

Brig have also re-signed midfielder Paul Dawson.

The 22-year-old returns to Irongate from league rivals Lancaster City, having made the reverse journey in January 2021.

A product of the academy at Morecambe, he grew up playing for local sides at junior level and spent a season at Kendal Town in 2017/18 season before a summer 2018 move to Bamber Bridge.
