Both Carden and Baker have extensive experience as players in the Football League and the top levels of non-League football.

Carden joins the Bucks from Warrington Town where in the last five seasons, starting 2017/18, he has taken the Yellows to a top six finish in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division, third in the first three seasons and then fourth and sixth in the last two seasons that were terminated early.

Baker, 38, joins the Bucks from Southern League Premier Division Central side Nuneaton Borough where he had been playing – often alongside his son Louis.

The attacking midfielder is a former Coventry City captain who joined re-joined Telford`s league rivals Brackley Town from Nuneaton in January 2019 after spending some time in America and then made the reverse journey back to Liberty Way in July 2020.

He started out at Southport and then played for Morecambe before making a £175,000 move to Stockport County in the summer of 2008.

He signed for Coventry in January 2010 and spent four years with the Sky Blues, making over 150 appearances before going on to have spells with MK Dons and Portsmouth.

Carden and Baker will take charge with immediate effect for the training sessions this week and for the Buildbase FA Trophy tie on Saturday away at Isthmian League North Division side Felixstowe & Walton United.

Chairman Andy Pryce told https://www.telfordunited.com: “I am delighted that we have been able to attract a manager and assistant of Paul and Carl’s calibre. They bring a wealth of experience to our football club and I am excited to start working with them both.  They are both young and hungry to succeed, and they both share the same aspirations and ambitions for the future of AFC Telford United”.
