National League club Boreham Wood have announced two new signings ahead of the
Emirates FA Cup deadline in striker Nile Ranger and goalkeeper Joshua Roach
ahead of Monday’s visit of St Albans City to the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park.
Ranger (pictured), still only 30, joins Wood after a short second spell with league rivals Southend
United.
He
had joined the Shrimpers in the summer of 2021 from Northern Premier Division
One Midlands outfit Spalding United, where he had been since October 2020.
He
started his career with Crystal Palace and then Southampton`s youth teams before
moving north to join Newcastle United in 2009. He went on to play 51 times for
the Magpies, scoring 2 goals, as well as having loan spells with Barnsley and
Sheffield Wednesday.
In
2013 he joined Swindon Town and made 23 appearances and scored 8 times.
He
went on to turn out for Blackpool and Southend before his contract with the
latter was terminated in January 2018 because of "recurring disciplinary
issues".
Roach
is an 18-year-old keeper who arrives at the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park having
most recently been with Premier League West Ham United.
Roach
has been training with the squad and has impressed the watchful eyes of manager
Luke Garrard and the senior management team enough to earn himself a deal ahead
of Monday’s eagerly anticipated FA Cup Second Round fixture with neighbouring
St Albans.
Roach
came through the famed Hammers academy to make the under-18 side before being
released at the end of the 2020/21 season. |
