Nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder Pablo Chaves de Nova is from Granada in Spain and is currently studying in the UK.

He came through the academy at his home-town club, Granada CF, and also had a spell with local Spanish fourth-tier outfit UD Maracana, and most recently Atletico Monachil.

Also joining the club is goalkeeper Glen Morrison.

Last season Morrison played for Essex & Suffolk Border League champions Gas Recreation and has impressed in pre-season for Melford, making some excellent saves against Needham Market and Bury Town.

Meanwhile, the club have managed to keep the majority of last season’s squad on board, apart from Darren Moyes, who has retired, and Jose Zarzoso and Lewis Haughton, who have moved away from the area.

Former AFC Sudbury youth midfielders Aaron Pengelly, Cory Willings and Ryan McNicholas, who all joined at the end of last season, are included in the squad and will add extra competition for places.

Jake Jackson and Sam Bayliss are home from university and will further strengthen the squad.

Midfielder Scott Sloots, who scored 9 goals in 55 matches last season, has also put pen-to-paper.
