Cup Final Win For The Derbyshire Side!
A 2-0 win for Whaley Bridge AFC against Rylands at Shawe View saw them lift the JB Parker Challenge Cup trophy for the third consecutive year.

A shaky start for Rylands led to some early chances for the league champions, a flurry of corners and close calls were kept out by the Rylands back-line before a good turn and a sweet finish from Sam Leadbetter gave the side in blue the lead.

The rest of the first half was closely contested, with neither side having too many chances on goal before the break.

After the break, it was a similar affair, Whaley just edging possession all while it got heated between a number of the players on both sides, which the referee was quick to shut down.

A rather quiet second half started to draw to a close as a lapse in concentration lead to Leadbetter getting through on goal, slotting it over the onrushing Rylands 'keeper and making it two.

A solid performance from both sides, with Whaley coming out on top.
