Vastly
experienced midfielder Jason Kennedy joins on a permanent deal, while striker
Stephen Thompson arrives on loan.
Kennedy (pictured),
35, signed for Spennymoor in June 2020 from then-National League side
Hartlepool United after a successful loan spell towards the end of the
truncated 2019/20 season. He had joined Pools in July 2019.
He
began his career with Middlesbrough where he emerged from the academy to play a
handful of games in the Premier League before establishing himself as one of
the most sought-after midfielders in the lower divisions.
A
loan move to Darlington in 2008 was turned permanent and he played over 50
games for the Quakers before securing a move to Rochdale where he made another
200 appearances.
His
next destination was Bradford City where he spent a couple of seasons before
putting down some roots in Carlisle United in 2015.
He
became a fans’ favourite in Cumbria and made more than 100 appearances before
his departure at the end of last term.
Thompson,
32, joined Moors in May 2020 from league rivals Darlington.
He
had joined the Quakers in September 2012 from Northern League side Durham City.
He
also started his career at Middlesbrough but didn’t make a first team
appearance, and then in 2008 moved to Port Vale where he scored twice in 17
appearances.
He
was freed by Vale, and briefly joined AFC Telford United before returning to
the north east in the summer of 2010 with Durham, who were then in the Northern
Premier League.
He
was a regular scorer at New Ferens Park before he was transferred to the
Quakers in September 2012. |
