Wombwell Loaned to Morpeth

Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division club Morpeth Town have signed defender or midfielder Ryan Wombwell on loan from Vanarama National League North side Gateshead.

The 19-year-old joined the Heed in May 2021 following an initial trial period on a two-year deal, with the option of a third year.

He arrived having made 15 appearances for SkyBet League One side Sunderland under-23s during the 2020/21 season – appearing as a sub in the Premier League 2 play-off final against Crystal Palace.

He first appeared for the Black Cats’ under-18 set-up in March 2019, making 25 appearances across two seasons before progressing to the club’s under-23 side.
