The
32-year-old highly-rated keeper began his career on the south coast with
Gosport’s neighbours Havant & Waterlooville, coming through the Hawks’
academy and breaking into the first team in 2008.
He
moved to Gosport, initially on loan, in 2011 and produced such displays that
his stay was made permanent.
Over
five years, he was instrumental in helping Gosport win two successive
promotions, reach an FA Trophy Final at Wembley and become a
play-off-challenging force in the National League South.
He
joined Ebbsfleet United for a fee in March 2016
He
firmly established himself as a cult hero among Fleet fans with a series of
fine displays and the immensely popular keeper passed the 100-game mark for the
National League club in 2018 and then moved to Boreham Wood in July 2020.
He
experienced a long-term injury in Wood`s defeat at Chesterfield in mid-October
which meant manager Luke Garrard sought to find a replacement in Ashmore`s
absence, with Fulham’s Taye Ashby-Hammond arriving at the LV BET Stadium Meadow
Park on loan.
Ashmore’s
recovery was faster than expected and as such all parties decided the best
course of action for both him and the team was for him to take the next step in
his recovery by getting minutes under his belt on loan. |
