Midfielder Lamine Sherif enjoyed a goalscoring debut for Peterborough Sports on Tuesday night in their crucial 2-1 win over Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central play-off rivals AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

The 23-year-old had actually signed just in time to come off the bench last Saturday during the 2-2 draw against Hitchin Town but made an impression on his first start for the Turbines.

Sherif joins Sports after a short spell with AFC Telford United, who he had only signed for last month from Vanarama National League North rivals Kettering Town.

He had been with the Poppies since late August 2021.

He spent almost 10 years coming through Premier League Leicester City`s academy ranks before being released in 2019.

He moved to League One side Accrington Stanley and he made 8 appearances before being deemed surplus to requirements at the end of last season.

He trialled with National League outfit Notts County before signing for Kettering.
