The 22-year-old joins Warrington on a more permanent basis, having been on dual registration with the Yellows since March 2022.

He had joined Skem in the summer of 2021 from NPL Division One West outfit Marine AFC, having signed for them in June 2020 on a permanent basis, having been on loan with the Mariners towards the end of the 2019/20 season and scored 33 goals.

Originally with Preston North End, he joined Morecambe in May 2019 and in February 2020 was loaned to Marine.

It wasn`t his first taste of non-League football, however, as he had been out on loan with Hednesford Town and Stalybridge Celtic whilst on Preston`s books and also spent time with Irish side Cork City in 2018.

Skelmersdale manager Paul McNally told his club’s website: Paul McNally said “Before the season started, I had one player on our radar that I desperately wanted to sign and that was Mikey, I was more than delighted when we finally got him, I said at the beginning of the season I don’t know how long we will have him but I had confidence that he would come up with the goods.

"To give credit to him there have been a number of teams wanting to prise him away, but he has stuck with us, mainly due to his enjoyment at the club and the fact he was scoring goals.

“A lot of young lads who are released from League club’s academies fall by the wayside, it takes a strong character to go down the leagues and work their way back up, Michael is one of those characters. He is joining Warrington Town, two divisions above and I’m sure he will impress and go further up the leagues with the right guidance, Mikey leaves with our blessings and our best wishes going forward in his career”.
