Cranston
puts pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with the option of a further year and
becomes James Rowe’s third summer signing, with the Coasters beating several
National League clubs to his signature.
The
28-year-old is a former product of the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy.
Born
in Wednesfield, he put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract in 2013.
Although
Cranston never made his senior debut for Wolves, he was loaned out to Nuneaton
Borough during his time on Molineux. Once his contract expired, he signed for
Hednesford Town, but he didn't stay long, returning to Nuneaton just a week
later.
His
time at the Liberty Way was almost as brief and by the September, Cranston had
signed for Notts County.
He
saw out the season with Notts, making nine appearances, but was on the move
again that summer.
Gateshead
was Cranston's next club before National League rivals Cheltenham Town signed
him in January 2016.
He
enjoyed a successful spell with Town and his performances attracted the
attention of then-League Two side Morecambe.
The
Shrimps offered Cranston a two-year deal and a return to League football.
Traditionally
a defender, Cranston proved a real attacking threat for Morecambe, scoring 4
goals during the 2018/19 season.
He
linked up with Solihull in the summer of 2020.
Rowe
told https://www.afcfylde.co.uk:
“It was clear when Jordan and I met, along with his experienced agent, that we
were aligned in ambitions.
“Jordan’s
adaptability to play different roles in the team is crucial for any side in the
National League pyramid.
“Players
that have won titles can add know-how in the changing room, and his strong
character will be pivotal in our changing room”. |
