The
25-year-old had re-signed for now-Southern League Premier Division Central side
Mickleover in November 2019 from Grantham Town, where he had been since September
2019 having joined from another league rival, Matlock Town.
He
had only been with the Gladiators since June 2019 when they paid an undisclosed
fee from Southern Premier Central side Coalville Town for his services.
He
had a short loan spell at Matlock from Lincoln City in 2016/17 but only made a
handful of appearances.
When
he was released by the Imps shortly afterwards, he joined Grantham Town where
he played a key role in the Gingerbreads’ successful 2017/18 campaign when they
were beaten NPL Premier Division play-off finalists.
When
manager Adam Stevens went to Coalville from Grantham in the summer of 2018,
Wright followed him and was again prominent, netting 17 league and cup goals as
the Ravens narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.
Joint
manager Damon Parkinson told https://www.gainsboroughtrinity.com: "I have
known Andrew for a long time, and he has always been a player I liked.
“He
is an intelligent player and plays on the front foot. He also has a good goal
scoring record from midfield and has scored some special goals. Hopefully we
will see a couple of them next season".
