The 29-year-old was a coup signing for Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Spalding United in May 2021.

The former England C international moved to Peterborough United in 2014 after impressing for Gateshead in the National League.

But in April 2021 whilst on loan to League Two side Bolton Wanderers from Charlton Athletic, he announced he was taking a break from football due to the ‘abuse, pressure and monotony’ over the last two years.

Originally with Newcastle United, St Johnstone and Gateshead, he had his most successful spell in football with Peterborough between 2014 and 2020, which saw him linked with moves to Premier League and Championship clubs.

He scored 62 goals in 249 appearances for Posh, before joining Charlton on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.
