Scott
Burgess, Adam Crookes and Lenell John-Lewis have all switched to the Minstermen
upon their release from Grimsby.
Burgess,
24, will be a familiar face for City fans after his impressive loan spell with
the Minstermen in 2019.
The
central midfielder has since gone on to play regularly in the Football League
with Port Vale and then Grimsby last year.
Left-back Crookes, also 24, started his career at Nottingham Forest before loan
spells at Guiseley, Lincoln City and Port Vale – where he eventually signed
permanently and played 58 times in his three-year stay at Vale Park.
Both
players have worked with John Askey previously at Port Vale, where the manager
signed the duo in the summer of 2019.
John-Lewis (pictured) is an experienced 33-year-old striker who signed for the Mariners on a
permanent deal in January 2021 on a contract until the summer of 2022.
He
re-united with Grimsby boss Paul Hurst, having previously played under him
during his first spell at the club, as well as during his time in charge at
Shrewsbury Town.
He
joined the Mariners having been plying his trade in the National League North
with Hereford FC, scoring 13 goals in all competitions for the Bulls.
Having
turned professional with Lincoln City before making the move to Bury in 2010,
he first joined Grimsby 2013 during their first time in non-League football.
He
scored 30 goals in 111 appearances in all competitions for the Mariners before
making the step up to League Two with Newport County in 2015.
He
joined back up with Hurst in 2017 as he made the move to Shrewsbury, where he
scored 5 goals in 60 appearances before heading back to non-League with
Hereford in 2020. |
