Willoughby,
who turns 25 on Friday, joins the Blues from former National League North
rivals York City.
He
had signed for the Minstermen in June 2021 from rivals AFC Fylde and helped
them to win promotion back to the National League in 2021/22.
He
had signed for the Coasters in June 2019 following his departure from FC United
of Manchester, following a 19-goal-haul, despite relegation.
He
made a name for himself playing for AFC Blackpool in the North West Counties
League, scoring 40 goals in just half a season at his time there.
He
was then picked up by Clitheroe, where he continued his prolific form, scoring
26 goals in the league and earning a place in the league team of the season.
Despite
their relegation, his time at FC United was a productive one, finishing as top
goalscorer, winning players’ player of the year, and earning a first England C
cap, marking his debut with a goal in a 2-2 draw against Wales.
