The 20-year-old becomes the latest addition to Gary Johnson’s new-look squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Having begun his career in the youth ranks at Chester, Goodwin made rapid progress after breaking into the first-team at the Deva Stadium, prompting Championship side Stoke to secure his services in February 2021, before spending last term in the EFL with Hartlepool United.

Johnson told https://torquayunited.com: “The usual words – I’m delighted, as always, when we secure a signature of somebody that we’ve been trying to get for a few weeks. It was different reasons why he couldn’t come earlier, but we’re pleased to say he’s agreed to join us, and he’ll be a major part of our squad, and obviously our season.

“He’s a big lad, he’s another striker that we felt we needed to get in, and he can play 9, 10, 7 or 11 for all those that remember the old numbers!”
