The 25-year-old was picked up by the Bees as a youth from local side Croydon and went on to graduate from the youth academy, making his first-team debut in May 2016 against Crawley Town.

Originally training with Crystal Palace, he’s always stayed local to London, enjoying loan spells at Hendon and Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Despite first-team opportunities being limited after his loans, he did make his first start for the Bees in the Football League against Grimsby in the penultimate game of the 2016/17 season.

He went on to play over 150 games for the north London outfit and also represented England C in September 2018/

Southend’s head coach Kevin Maher told https://www.southendunited.co.uk: "He’s someone who can link the midfield to the attack.

"He’s comfortable on the ball, moves well and can travel with the ball so I think he will provide something different to the midfield area, and he can play in a wider area at times as well.

"He’s someone we’ve known about for a long time, we watched him a lot and kept an eye on his situation and when the opportunity came about, we moved quickly to get the deal done.

"He’s played a lot of games and he’s at an age where we think he can get better. He has good energy and adds a good dynamic to the middle of the pitch which will provide good competition for places”.
