Defender Yan Osadchyi had been on a training camp in Turkey with his Ukranian second division side Alians Lypova Dolyna in February, ahead of the 2022/23 campaign that was set to begin in April.

However, Putin’s Russian invasion of Ukraine led to Osadchyi fleeing abroad with his partner to escape the conflict and he eventually settled in Worcester.

Originally with Metalist Kharkiv, Metalurh Donetsk, Solli Plyus Kharkiv and Agrobiznes TSK Romny, he joined Lypova in 2018.

An experienced defender or midfielder, he had over 200 professional appearances under his belt before the war began.

The 28-year-old has been on trial with Redditch in the last few weeks and has earned a deal with his performances in pre-season friendlies.
