He
arrived at the Jakemans Stadium from League Two side Doncaster Rovers, where he
also enjoyed a spell as interim manager during the second half of the 2020/21
campaign following Darren Moore's departure to Sheffield Wednesday.
Doncaster-born,
he made more than 500 senior appearances during his time as a professional
footballer.
He
signed for the Rovers in January 2015 after making his loan move from Sheffield
United permanent.
A
former Scunthorpe United academy product, he made the grade at Glanford Park
and would go on to make more than 150 appearances for the Iron.
From
there, he moved to Huddersfield Town, Walsall and the Blades before heading
back to his place of birth.
Butler
has also taken the step into coaching in recent years, with spells at Doncaster
Rovers and Peterborough United before he became the manager of Doncaster Rovers
Belles - a role he will continue to hold alongside his playing duties. |
