Twenty-year-old
right-sided player Drew Kear is one of several to have made the switch from Midland
League Division One side Hinckley AFC.
The
right-back, who can also operate further forward, had a successful first season
in senior football with Hinckley as they finished runners-up in the UCL Division
One in 2021/22 before being switched back to the Midland League this summer.
Kear
started out with the Gordon Strachan Football Foundation before moving to
Hinckley.
Young
centre-back Ben Whitehead also moves from Hinckley.
He
has signed a one-year contract with Valley after an impressive first season in
senior football with Hinckley last season, winning the players' player of the season
award.
Whitehead,
who has just turned 20, is currently recovering from a minor operation meaning
he will miss the start of the season.
The
central defender also started out with the Strachan Football Foundation before
moving to Hinckley.
Charlie
Evans has re-joined Rugby from Hinckley, also signing a one-year deal.
The
25-year-old forward scored 40 goals in 91 games in his first spell at Butlin
Road from 2018 to 2021.
He
originally joined Rugby in July 2018 from Stratford Town after originally
breaking through the Bards` youth ranks in 2015.
Evans
quickly became an integral player in Rugby's attacking arsenal, scoring 19
goals in his first season, picking up a number of player of the season awards.
He
left the club in September 2021 to join Hinckley and had a successful season
scoring 30 goals in UCL Division One as they almost gained promotion.
Prior
to joining Rugby originally, Evans featured 41 times for Stratford in the
Southern League Premier in the 2017/18, scoring 3 goals.
Goalkeeper
Matt Hill has also re-joined from Hinckley after a two-year absence.
The
24-year-old made 77 appearances in his first spell with the club between 2018
and 2020, keeping 25 clean sheets.
Since
leaving Butlin Road in 2020, Hill has enjoyed a spell with Hinckley in the UCL
Division One where they were eventually a whisker away from promotion to the
Premier Division.
He
originally joined Rugby for his first spell in 2018 and then had an impressive
couple of seasons with the club after signing from Rushall Olympic before the
enforced Covid suspension in March 2020.
However.
he lost his place to new signing Sam Lomax at the start of the 2020/21 season
and left to join Hinckley.
Hill
graduated from the Solihull Moors youth team and has also had spells with
Bolehall Swifts, Leamington, St Ives Town, Bedford Town and Rushall Olympic.
Another
player returning to Valley is attacking midfielder Ryan Seal from Pitching In
Northern Premier League Division One Midlands outfit Gresley Rovers.
The
32-year-old has agreed a one-year contract at Butlin Road where he scored 20
goals in 42 appearances in his first spell with the club.
Seal (pictured) scored 20 goals for Gresley last season as they earned promotion from the UCL
Premier North.
Seal
originally agreed to join Rugby in July 2019 from NPL Division One Midlands
side Stamford AFC and became a fans' favourite, scoring 20 goals and providing
25 assists in his first spell for the club.
He
joined Stamford near the start of the 2018/19 season after scoring 18 goals in
23 games for Quorn in the previous campaign when he featured in both games
against Rugby.
Before
that Seal scored 93 goals in two seasons for Hinckley AFC after netting 28
goals for Kirby Muxloe in the Midland League Premier in the 2014/15 season.
Seal
joined Gresley in June 2021. |
