Brunt began his career with Sheffield United before plying his trade within the youth set ups at higher profile academies, namely Aston Villa, Manchester City and Manchester United, before a spell with Derby County was followed by a return to Bramall Lane in 2018 on scholarship terms after being with Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Matlock Town.

The 20-year-old playmaking midfielder now arrives at Meadow Park with previous National League experience having spent time on loan at Southend United and Notts County last season.

In addition to his senior experience with the Shrimpers and the Magpies at the top tier of non-League football, Brunt also has two senior Blades appearances to his name in the EFL Cup, having played 90 minutes in both United’s EFL Cup victories over Carlisle United and Derby County at Bramall Lane last campaign.

Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard told https://www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk: “I’m really happy to get Zak signed. He is someone I have earmarked since his initial loan at Southend United. He had a successful spell with them and then progressed onto Notts County at the back end of the season, featuring in their play-off push.

“He has a great experience of the level already at such a young age and understands what’s expected to deliver consistently week-in-week-out within this division. He will bring great quality to the group and has a real attacking intent to his play.

“Zak has already integrated really well into the group and will be compliment what we already have in the building. This is another building block to what we want to achieve this season, and I want to thank both the Chairman and Charlie for sanctioning this deal. With real competition throughout the squad, it will ensure levels of performances are high and that’s so important when competing within this division”.
