Pitching
In Southern League Division One South club Willand Rovers have announced the
arrival of a number of new signings.
In
striker Dean Stamp’s case, it’s a welcome back as the experienced 33-year-old
re-joins for a fourth spell from league rivals Bristol Manor Farm.
He
had returned to Manor Farm in May 2021 from Rovers, where he had been since the
summer of 2019.
He
scored over 126 goals in 150 games for Manor Farm over three seasons and has
over 150 goals for Willand Rovers.
He
also numbers Exeter City, Truro City, Weymouth, Taunton Town and Tiverton Town
amongst his other former clubs.
He
also had dual registration spells with Cullompton Rangers and Axminster Town in
2020/21.
Another
returnee is Brazilian midfielder Doug Camilo (pictured), who re-joins from Toolstation
Western League Premier Division side Wellington AFC.
The
31-year-old had been with Wellington since the summer of 2021.
He
originally joined Taunton Town on trial in July 2018 after moving to the area
before switching to Willand Rovers for the first time in the summer of 2019.
He
played for Gremio Prudente and Inter de Bebedouro in his home city of Rio de
Janeiro before moving to Portugal where he had spells at three clubs, including
recent Industrial Desportivo Vieirense.
He
spent time acclimatising with Western League side Bishops Lydeard in 2018/19.
Right
or central midfielder Adam Kelly joins Rovers from league rivals Paulton
Rovers, where he had been since last summer.
Another
experienced 34-year-old, he had joined rivals Melksham Town in the summer of
2020 from Thatcham Town.
He
had signed for the Kingfishers in December 2018 from Mangotsfield United.
Formerly
with Tiverton Town, Weymouth, Bashley, Winchester City, Truro City, Taunton
Town and Salisbury City, he is an attacking player with an eye for a pass and a
goal.
Joining
from former league rivals, relegated Barnstaple Town, is midfielder Ashton
Hewitt.
The
23-year-old had been with Barum since January 2022 after joining from another
rival, Bideford AFC.
He
had only joined Biddy in December 2021 from South West Peninsula League Premier
Division East side Elmore AFC.
He
was previously with Western League First Division side Lebeq United.
Lewis
Hill is a 19-year-old forward who originally joined Rovers in January 2022 on a
dual registration from local South West Peninsula League neighbours Elmore.
He
joined on a more permanent basis in the summer of 2022.
He
was a prolific goalscorer in the SW Peninsula League with Elmore and hopes to
continue this record by terrorising the defences in the Southern League.
Also
joining from neighbours Elmore is defender Lucas White.
The
20-year-old is a strong, no-nonsense full-back who will strengthen Rovers`
defensive options.
Another
joining from Wellington is forward, Josh Baker.
He
helped himself to 16 goals in the Western League in 2021/22.
Ever
willing runner up front his work ethic is tremendous and his pace and tenacity
will certainly worry defenders.
Attacker
Ollie Bray joins from South West Peninsula League Premier Division East side
Holsworthy AFC.
He
is electrically quick and over six-feet tall - his presence will no doubt be a
handful for any opposing defence.
He
has played for Devon under-18s and is looking forward to developing further at
Step 4 level.
Defender
Charlie Dack steps up from Devon & Exeter League side Alphington AFC.
The
19-year-old is an exciting young full back who can play either on the right or
left-hand sides of the defence.
Midfielder
George Richards is the older brother of Rovers` defender Will.
George
has spent many seasons playing for Colyton in the Devon & Exeter League but
has now opted to make the step up.
He
is a rangy player who likes to get from box-to-box. |
