The 18-year-old centre-half has made the switch to the Clarets on a temporary basis to progress his footballing career.

A regular for the U’s under-21 side, he has also spent time away on loan at Pitching In Isthmian League North side Maldon & Tiptree and will now hope to get more first-team action under Robbie Simpson at the Melbourne Stadium.

Colchester’s director of football Tony Humes told https://www.cu-fc.com: “This is a great opportunity for Frankie to get some more minutes of mens' football under his belt.

“It is the next obvious step for him, and we hope that he will gain plenty of experience in playing in a competitive National League South side”.
