The 23-year-old joins from Vanarama National League North side AFC Fylde, after an eight-month stint on the West Coast.

Piggott had been with the Coasters since August 2021 after arriving from National League side Altrincham who he had joined in January 2021.

The Nantwich-born striker had just left current Championship side Wigan Athletic by mutual consent and has signed a contract with Alty until the end of 2021/22 season.

He had been on loan with Altrincham in 2019/20, making 6 appearances and scoring 4 goals. That was just after he had completed a loan spell at Morecambe, where he scored once in 9 appearances, 6 of which were in League Two.

In his earlier career he had spent time at Rochdale and Everton. However, early in the 2017/18 season he joined Dundee United.

After being released by the Scottish club, he joined Warrington Town in early 2018 before joining Wigan at the start of the 2018/19 season.
