The 32-year-old was actually once on the books of Hamlet, joining the club just after our promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2013, but he did not make a first-team appearance.

He has also appeared for the likes of Tooting & Mitcham United, Carshalton Athletic, South Park, East Thurrock United, Chatham Town, Greenwich Borough, Walton & Hersham, Guildford City and Whyteleafe during his career, and most recently played for Isthmian South East side Sevenoaks Town, where he netted 6 times in 15 appearances, including 4 in 11 this campaign.

He is also a Hamlet fan, and lives locally.

Barnes told his club’s website: "He is a lad I know well, a great person to have around the place with a great character. I know what he's about and will be an excellent addition to our squad. He is someone who will always be supportive of his team-mates, provides a different dimension to our attack and I am delighted to have brought him in and can't wait to work with him again".
