Johnson
has taken the decision to step down as manager after an eight-year
roller-coaster of a journey as manager in which he led the team 287 times, also
making 133 appearances as a player.
Johnson
has overseen the overhaul of the club since stepping up as player-manager and he
has given Sports supporters some amazing memories, with his highlights being
promotion to the Isthmian League, losing narrowly in last season's play-offs
and the heroics of the Emirates FA Cup run from last season.
The
club’s secretary Terry Reader told his club’s website: “On a personal note,
Johno has become a great friend, his support of me and my family during the
toughest time in my life when losing my father was beyond what anyone could
wish for, and along with his assistant Jimmy Hibburt they both helped guide me
and the club through one of our darkest times.
“My
thanks go to Paul and Jim for their wonderful service to our club and its
thanks to them the club is in a much better position than when they both
arrived. They will always be massive fans favourites to everyone at Bedfont
Sports Club, we now have the task of finding the right person to fill what will
be big shoes”.
