The 23-year-old comes in from United Counties League Premier Division North outfit Anstey Nomads having scored 14 goals for them so far this season. Wakefield joined Nomads in the summer of 2022 from NPL Division One Midlands outfit Bedworth United, where he had been since January 2022 after arriving from Southern Premier Division Central side Stratford Town. He joined the Bards in October 2021 from league rivals Nuneaton Borough. He had only joined Boro in August 2021 from then-Northern Premier side Basford United where he played under current Matlock boss Martin Carruthers. He was previously with Loughborough Dynamo and United Counties League sides Oadby Town and Harborough Town. Carruthers told https://www.matlocktownfc.co.uk: “He’s a big and powerful 6’2” striker. He’s hard working and also a great lad, he’s just what we need at the moment. He’ll win his headers and provide that power and strength we need in the final third, so I’m delighted to bring him to the club”.
