In a club statement, Town said: "Seamus is still convalescing after major surgery and despite making steady progress after his recent illness, will be unable to fulfil his duties as first-team manager this season.
"The club thanks Seamus for his contribution and everyone at Aberystwyth Town FC wishes him a full recovery and a long career in football ahead!"
Heath was born in Belfast but retains close links to North Wales having played 32 times for Wrexham in 1983/84, followed by 17 appearances for Tranmere Rovers over the subsequent two years.
Heath has since developed a wealth of coaching experience in Northern Ireland, working with Glenavon, Kilmore Recreation, the Northern Ireland under-19 side, Knockbreda under-20s and Annagh United in the Northern Irish First Division.
A replacement for Heath has not yet been announced.
The news comes shortly after Aber strengthened their squad ahead of this weekend`s opening league game.
Defenders Alan Goodall and Tom Evans signed ahead of the game at home to Llandudno on Friday evening.
Goodall can play in a central defensive or left-back role and brings a wealth of Football League experience to Town's youthful side.
He began his career at Bangor City back in 2001, playing a total of 91 games (scoring 10 goals) and making the Welsh Premier team of the season back in 2004.
Since then, he's made over 300 appearances in the Football League with Rochdale, Stockport County, Chesterfield, Luton Town, Grimsby Town and most recently Morecambe - scoring 20 goals in the process.
He spent the 2016/17 season at Altrincham in the Vanarama National League North and will be a valuable addition to Aber's squad for the forthcoming season.
Local youngster Tom Evans is an attacking full-back who can play on the left or right side.
He played a significant part in Bari Morgan's under-19's Welsh Premier Development League winning squad last season, creating a number of goal scoring opportunities from the right back position.
He's spent time playing for Bow Street in recent seasons but has now committed to the black and greens by signing on for the 2018/19 Welsh Premier League season. |
