Horlock was appointed as manager at the start of the February 2020 and brought a wealth of experience and knowledge, having played the game professionally for over 15 years. He combines his managerial post with his role as academy boss and he has been the catalyst to the reserve and under-18 teams excellent form in recent seasons. Throughout his own playing career, Horlock represented Northern Ireland on 32 occasions and played 164 games for Swindon Town, 206 for Manchester City and 58 for Ipswich Town. He also had spells managing Chatham Town and Maldon & Tiptree. Rothery, whose previous clubs include Rowhedge and Brightlingsea Regent, re-joined the Marketmen in October 2019 having left his position as manager at Brightlingsea. He had previously enjoyed success with the club back in 2016/17. He possesses a UEFA B License and is an excellent coach who knows all about the non-League scene. During their time at Bloomfields, Horlock and Rothery have overseen sustained success in maintaining, and establishing, their position at Step 3 in the non-League Pyramid and have achieved record breaking success in taking the club to the quarter finals of the FA Trophy last season and this season to the First Round of the Emirates FA cup for the first time in the club’s 103-year history. Horlock will also remain as academy manager which will ensure continuation of the progression of young players into the first team squad, an exciting prospect for both current and future students in the academy. Needham Market’s chairman Keith Nunn told his club’s website: “The re-appointment of the management team should be welcomed by all as we endeavour to develop and improve our club on a solid, sustainable basis." CEO Dave Clarke added: “Regular supporters know full well the commitment of the team under Kevin and Tom's leadership, it’s a natural progression to offer long term contracts to valued staff”.
