A statement released by the club read: "It has been a long recruitment process but the club feels that they have secured the stand-out candidate, someone who matches their principles and ambitions and someone who will be able to not only stabilise the football club after a difficult period, but drive the club forward and better it on and off the pitch." Hannigan began his managerial career at Linby Colliery Welfare before moving to Blidworth Welfare where he enjoyed great success, winning the Central Midlands League South Division title and earning promotion to the United Counties League. Work commitments ended his time with Blidworth prematurely but, with those commitments now cleared, he is able to get back into the game and is keen to get going with Ollerton. "I’ve been out of the game now for seven or eight months so I’m really looking forward to next season and the challenge ahead," Hannigan said. "I think it’s important to have those early conversations with people that you want to get in as a priority. "I'm definitely looking to get started as soon as possible and starting to get pre-season organised." On the appointment of Hannigan, a club spokesman was full of praise for the successful candidate, saying: "Richard was someone who was suggested to us right at the very start of the process. "It's taken us a while, but we've finally managed to get him to commit and we couldn't be more pleased. "Having gotten to know Rich over the past few weeks, it's clear why people think highly enough of him to put his name forward and in truth, he was the stand out candidate and someone who impressed all of us. "We think he shares our values and he got straight away what we wanted from a manager, and thankfully we seem to match what he wanted from his next club. "We look forward to working together over the summer to hopefully make the next season a successful one".
