The club’s commercial team will meet urgently over the weekend to look at their options after the club received an invoice for over £7,900 this week! The club were asked to send in a meter reading as recent invoices were estimated based on previous consumption and with the chairman having tied the club into a favourable rate prior to the massive price increases last year, the club did not anticipate any were near that kind of bombshell. The club received an updated invoice of over £2,000 on the last meter read, but the club paid that and excepted an increase in their monthly direct debit payments to avoid any future shocks. Not only do the club have to settle the invoice this month, but their direct debit contribution will almost double going forward. A full assessment of how this has happened will be carried out in the coming weeks and with a further increase on the cards when the current contract runs out later this year, the Millers face yet another financial challenge. The club is understood to of made a significant loss this season, primarily due to the FA’s decision to move the club into the Northern Premier East League from Division One Midlands. This latest blow will put pressure on those who help fund the club and commercial manager Gary Clarke and his number two Gaz Bee will meet with the chairman over the weekend for a brain storming session to hopefully come up with ideas to raise the additional funds to help settle this horrendous bill.
