Winger Joel Rollinson joins the Terras from National League South rivals Eastbourne Borough. He had signed for Boro for a second spell after a loan stint back in 2018/19. The 24-year-old began his career at Championship side Reading, from where the Sports signed him for the second half of the 2018/19 season. After his release from Reading, he signed for Stevenage in 2019 before joining Cray Wanderers on loan, making 20 appearances and scoring 3 times before joining Eastbourne in the summer of 2020. Defender Calvin Brooks, 29, started his career with Dorchester Town, then in the National League South. The central defender originally joined Weymouth on loan from Yeovil Town towards the start of 2014/15 season. His contract with the Glovers finished at the end of January whereon he opted to join the Terras on a permanent basis. He established himself as a highly skilled, composed defender who is also comfortable in midfield and in goal on one occasion and helped the Terras win the Southern Premier South title in 2018/19. He moved to Southern Premier Division South club Salisbury in November 2021. Also re-joining Weymouth from Salisbury is 28-year-old striker Brandon Goodship, having made the reverse journey in June 2022. He had re-joined Weymouth in June 2021 following the end of his contract at Southend United following their relegation to the National League. He originally signed for the Terras at the start of the 2017/18 season having previously been at AFC Bournemouth and Yeovil Town. He had been with the Cherries since the age of 12 but, after having had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, he joined the Glovers on a permanent basis in January 2017. He hit the ground running for Weymouth and scored his first hat-trick at home to Merthyr Town in October 2017. He scored 38 league goals in his first season at the club and picked up the 2017/18 Southern Premier Division`s `golden boot` and finished the season as the club’s player of the season. He won his first England C cap in March 2019 when he came on as a sub against Wales. His goals were an important part of Weymouth winning the 2018/19 Southern Premier title - he scored 39 goals in his second season with Weymouth and won the 2018/19 Southern League Premier `golden boot` again, as well as the players` player of the season award. In June 2019, he signed for then-League One side Southend, for whom he made 52 appearances and scored 4 goals. Weymouth boss Bobby Wilkinson has also managed to turn goalkeeper Gerard Benfield’s (pictured) loan into a permanent signing. Wilkinson said: “Gerard played an important role in keeping the club up, so we are delighted to keep him at the club. “I’m delighted to be working with Gez again for the coming season.” The 25-year-old re-joins Weymouth from Southern Premier Division South side Salisbury, having moved to the Whites in May 2022 from former league rivals Wimborne Town, where he had returned to in January 2022. He originally signed for Weymouth in June 2020 from Salisbury. He had joined the Whites for the first time from Southern Division One South neighbours Wimborne in May 2019. A very competent goalkeeper, who hails from Poole, joined the Magpies in July 2016 from Hamworthy United, and had previously attracted Salisbury’s interest at the end of season 2017/18 during which he won the most improved player and players’ player awards.
