Former Colchester United forward Tom Stagg (pictured) joins the Terras from Pitching In Isthmian League North Division side Grays Athletic. The 20-year-old had joined Grays in March 2023 from Isthmian Premier side Billericay Town. He had re-joined Billericay in a few weeks earlier, having originally joined in September 2022 before heading to league rivals Cray Wanderers a month later following his release by Colchester in the summer of 2022. He played under-18 and under-21 football for United, but whilst with the U's spent time on loan with a succession of clubs, including Maldon & Tiptree, Witham Town and East Thurrock United. He then had his first spell with Billericay, who were then in National League South, before two more loan spells in 2021/22 with Brentwood Town and Hashtag United. Weymouth manager Bobby Wilkinson told https://uptheterras.co.uk: “He’s an ex Colchester player, he has lots of energy. “His movement with and without the ball are great and he’s also a great finisher.” Weymouth have also completed the signing of left back Leo Hamblin. The 20-year-old, who hails from Ashford in Surrey, came through National League club Woking’s academy. He had his first experiences away from the Kingfield Stadium in 2021/22 with loans to Farnborough, Hartley Wintney and Hemel Hempstead Town. Highly rated at Woking, he signed his first professional contract in September 2020, whilst still technically an academy player. He moved to Isthmian Premier side Carshalton Athletic in July 2022 after being released by the Cards. Wilkinson said: “Leo’s made 10 appearances for Woking, first team in the National League and played for Hampton he knows league well. “He has an unbelievable amount of energy to play left back and a beautiful left foot to go with him.” The third new arrival is striker Dan Roberts after his release from league rivals Dartford. Roberts finished the season on loan at Slough Town, before being released by the Darts in the summer. The 25-year-old originally joined Slough on a dual-registration basis from Windsor in February 2019. He scored plenty of goals in the Hellenic League and also played a huge part in Windsor's run to the last 16 of the FA Vase. He remained a Windsor player until the end of the 2018/19 season before signing National League forms in the summer of 2019 after an impressive pre-season campaign. He transferred to Dartford in June 2021. Wilkinson added: “Roberts has bags of energy, he has great movement and is a proven goalscorer. “I’ve been a big fan of his for more than four years. “I’m looking forward to working with this boy”.
