Whitby Town have signed striker Jerome Greaves on a contract from former Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Belper Town.

The 21-year-old joined the Nailers in January 2023 from Northern Counties East League side Eccleshill United. The 6`4” forward (pictured) moved to Eccleshill in November 2022 following short spells with Guiseley AFC and Pontefract Collieries. He was released by Rotherham United in July 2022 after having loan spells at Matlock Town and Farsley Celtic in 2021/22 and notched up 18 games in the Vanarama National League North with the latter. The Pontefract-born player joined Rotherham to play in their under-18 side and was a shining light in their academy with his goalscoring feats. He was rewarded for his performances with a two-year professional deal in October 2020. Whilst with Rotherham he played for the first team in a number of pre-season games and also in a number of games in the EFL Trophy. Whitby have also announced the signing of Josef Wheatley. The 26-year-old midfielder joins the Seasiders from Spennymoor Town and has penned a permanent deal after spending almost two months on loan at the Towbar Express Stadium @ The Turnbull Ground during the 2022/23 season. Born in Middlesbrough, Wheatley spent time on Boro's books, progressing through the under-18, under-21 and under-23 sides at the Riverside Stadium, before joining National League North outfit Darlington at the age of 20. He netted on his debut for the Quakers saw him and his consistent performances saw him earn an England C call up. Joining Spennymoor in the summer of 2022, Wheatley spent two months on loan with Town last campaign, scoring his first Seasiders' goal in March's 4-1 victory against Matlock Town. Manager Nathan Haslam told https://www.whitbytownfc.com: "Joe's experienced at a higher level. He probably came into us only 80% on loan in February. We had a lot of games at that time and we was brilliant in the six weeks he was with us. "In the end, Spennymoor called him back and unfortunately for Joe he got injured not long after that. "He's a great lad to have in the changing room and he leads on the pitch. He's another experienced player to add to what is a young squad.
