They have announced the arrival of five new additions to their squad. Defender Javid Swaby-Neavin has joined the Blues from league rivals Hyde United. The 21-year-old had signed for the Tigers in June 2021 from Vanarama National League side FC Halifax Town. He had moved to the Shaymen in August 2021 and spent time on loan with the Tigers in 2021/22. He had re-joined Northern Premier outfit Radcliffe in September 2020 after spending part of the 2019/20 season at the Neuven on loan. The full back returned after being on loan with Boro for the whole of the 2019/20 campaign from then-League Two neighbours Oldham Athletic, who released him at the end of that season. As well as Radcliffe, he also spent time on loan with league rivals Ashton United. Attacking midfielder Ben Hough has also joined Rylands from another league rival, Ashton United. The 19-year-old had moved to Ashton in June 2022 from another league rival, Warrington Town where he had been since the summer of 2021. He was picked up by then-League Two Oldham Athletic while playing for Runcorn Linnets juniors at the age of 10 and made his first team debut in the EFL Trophy in 2020/21 before being released at the end of the campaign. Striker Joe Piggott has joined the club from rivals Radcliffe. The 23-year-old had been with Radcliffe since October 2022 after arriving from then-National League North side AFC Fylde. He had been with the Coasters since August 2021 after arriving from National League side Altrincham who he had joined in January 2021. The Nantwich-born striker had just left League One side Wigan Athletic by mutual consent and has signed a contract with Alty until the end of 2021/22 season. He had been on loan with Altrincham in 2019/20, making 6 appearances and scoring 4 goals. That was just after he had completed a loan spell at Morecambe, where he scored once in 9 appearances, 6 of which were in League Two. In his earlier career he had spent time at Rochdale and Everton. However, early in the 2017/18 season he joined Dundee United. After being released by the Scottish club, he joined Warrington Town in early 2018 before joining Wigan at the start of the 2018/19 season. Defender Matt Regan is another to move to Rylands from rivals Ashton United. The 29-year-old, known for his capability to play in a defensive midfield role as well as his centre-back position, re-joined National League North club Curzon Ashton from Tameside neighbours Ashton United in May 2019 following the latter`s relegation, and then joined league rivals Farsley Celtic in December 2019. He began his career at Wrexham before being snapped up by Liverpool, where he was a regular feature in their under-21 side. After being released by Liverpool, he signed for Nottingham Forest which then resulted in him finding his first taste of non-League football, signing for Tamworth in 2013. From then on he picked up non-League experience playing for the likes of Hednesford Town, Northwich Victoria, Colwyn Bay and Stalybridge Celtic before beginning his first spell with Curzon in May 2017. He then spent 2018/19 with Ashton. He transferred to Warrington Town in March 2020 and re-joined Ashton United in the summer of 2022. And Rylands have announced that well-travelled striker Scott Bakkor (pictured) has re-joined the Blues for the 2023/24 season. The 28-year-old re-joins from league rivals Guiseley AFC, where he had returned to in February 2023 from another league rival, Atherton Collieries. He had moved to Colls in May 2022 after arriving at Rylands, where he had only been since February 2022 in his first spell. He had returned to NPL Premier side Stalybridge Celtic in May 2021. The Warrington-born striker had re-joined Witton Albion in May 2020 from Stalybridge, who he had originally joined from Skelmersdale United in June 2018. Whilst with Skem he broke the record for the fastest hat-trick scored in the 50 years of the Northern Premier League, when he bagged three against Kendal Town in March 2018 to turn around a two-goal deficit and give Skelmersdale all three points in that match. Before Skelmersdale, he was in his second stint at Warrington Town whom he joined from Curzon Ashton. He has also played for Colwyn Bay, Marine (twice) and Witton Albion (twice).
