Hebburn's first summer acquisition saw home-town full-back Aidan Heywood put pen-to-paper with the Hornets. Heywood has worked previously with Moore at Shildon, and his re-uniting manager is excited to see the right-back in his prime. The England Universities captain signed for his home-town club having played at Hebburn as a youngster, as well as coaching within the club’s junior ranks. He joined a five-year spell with Shildon where he made a total of 162 appearances at Dean Street, and also lists Easington Colliery and Team Northumbria amongst his former clubs. Moore told https://www.hebburntownfc.com: "Aidan is a top bloke and a winner. "He's someone I've had for the last five years, since he was 19-years-old, and I've seen him develop into a top young man off the pitch. "On the pitch, he gets a bit embarrassed about me telling him, but I see a lot of myself in him. "He's a real winner and demands high standards from everyone - he's a massive leader at such a young age. "People might think he's come to Hebburn because he's local but that's not the case - he's come here to win. "If I was managing a team up in Scotland, he'd be one of my first targets because I think that highly of him. "He'll be under pressure from me but I expect him to take that on his shoulders and play a big role for us next year." Just days later, Moore confirmed his second signing with Dean Briggs from recently-promoted Ashington. The 27-year-old scored 6 goals for the Colliers in 2022/23 as they secured promotion to the Northern Premier League after winning their Inter-Step play-off against Glossop North End. The playmaker has also enjoyed time with Gateshead, Consett and Australian side Holland Park Hawks in his impressive career. Moore added: "I'm buzzing to get Briggsy here. "He's at a brilliant age and got experience all over, including abroad. "He's someone I've been after for two or three years - I think he can really do something at this level. "We want to get him on the ball and have a go at teams because he's an off-the-cuff player which I enjoy. "That's rare these days because lads come through academies and get it coached out of them - it's something we need in the final third of the pitch. "The main thing for me is his character - I know his dad and if he takes just half of that, he'll be a winner which is what we need at this club." And Moore's latest summer signing is 31-year-old Chay Liddle, who was a lynchpin of the Shildon side over recent years. Like Heywood, Liddle has previously enjoyed success under Moore at Dean Street. He had moved to Dean Street from Markse United in June 2019. He had joined the Seasiders from Billingham Synthonia in the summer of 2017. He is an intelligent defensive midfielder who reads the game well and played a key part in Marske`s Northern League title-winning campaign of 2017/18. Previously with Hartlepool United as a youth, Swedish side IFK Uppsala, Spennymoor Town and Guisborough Town. "Chay is an ultimate professional," Moore added. "He's played at levels higher and he's very fit but more importantly he's a proper footballer. "He's got a footballing brain and he'll make the players around him better. "During the three or four years we worked together at Shildon, he was outstanding. "There were numerous offers on the table for him but he's turned them down to come here. "He's coming all the way from Middlesbrough which shows the project we're building here - he believes in me and Mark [Hudson]. "He'll bring experience and help the lads around him - the supporters will love watching him play".
