Dean began the 2022/23 season with NPL Premier Division side Guiseley AFC. He went on to make 17 appearances for the Lions before linking up with Brighouse’s new league rivals Liversedge in January 2023. The 32-year-old made 5 appearances for Sedge but couldn't prevent them from suffering relegation from Step 3. Previously, Dean started his career with Bradford as a youth player and signed a three-year professional contract at the age of 17. He made his League debut against Morecambe in 2010 and had loan spells with a number of clubs before joining Harrogate Town on a permanent basis ahead of the 2012/13 season. Spells at Workington and Bradford Park Avenue followed, either side of a return to Harrogate, before he spent three seasons at Scarborough Athletic.
