Twenty-four-year-old right-back Smith links up with James Kinsey’s squad after spending most of last season at Stafford Rangers, having signed from Gainsborough Trinity in September 2022. He has also played for Mickleover and Brighouse Town and adds further experience to the squad. Manager James Kinsey told http://stalybridgeceltic.co.uk: “Darius has everything we want in a full-back. He’s athletic and also brings a vocal side of the game with him. “He has the experience of playing in a higher division and we’re delighted to be able to give him the platform to play consistently and push on. “It’s important that we keep adding lads to the group that suit and complement each other so we can create a real unity between us. Darius definitely fits within that category so we’re really happy to have got this done.” Midfielder Gabriel Mooney Muñoz (pictured) has also moved to Bower Fold. The 20-year-old joins the club from North West Counties League side Winsford United, where he made 52 appearances last season, being named player of the match in 13 of those games. He has also featured for Madrid based CD Canillas before a season with Wythenshawe FC where he was their players` player of the season for the 2021/22 campaign. He then moved to Winsford where he excelled, making 52 appearances in all competitions, winning 13 player of the match awards. Kinsey added: “He’s a player who has a good future in the game. He has that low centre of gravity that makes it difficult to get the ball from him and he’s eager to get better. “It’s shown by how many player of the matches he got for Winsford last season (when voted by the opposition), just how highly rated he is. We’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses here”.
