First to sign was Stoke City goalkeeper Josef Bursik, who arrived at Keys Park on a six-month youth loan from the SkyBet Championship side.

The tall shot-stopper played the last two friendly games for the Pitmen and was last season a part of the first-team set-up for Stoke after joining them in the summer of 2017 from AFC Wimbledon, with whom he had been with since the age of 9.

His performances in the under-23s earned Bursik a call up to the England under-18 squad in March – this follows an appearance in the under-17 European Championships for his country last summer.

Manager Rob Smith told http://www.hednesfordtownfc.com: “Josef is very highly-rated at Stoke City and we have already seen that he is very assured for his age.

“He will benefit greatly from a season in the Northern Premier League and we are very pleased to have him on board and thank Stoke, and Danny Alcock in particular, for their professionalism in handling this deal.”

Also penning a deal is left-sided player Charley Edge, with the 21-year-old having impressed in the last two pre-season fixtures.

Edge progressed through the academies of Swansea City, Stoke City and Everton before playing in the Football League for Colchester United.

Loan spells with Maldon & Tiptree, Leamington and Needham Market have followed over the last two seasons for a player who is comfortable at left-back and left-midfield.

Smith said: “Charley is a really talented lad with a great left foot and excellent set-piece delivery – as we have seen in the last two matches.

“He is another young boy who has had a taste of professional football and has the desire to get back into the pro game.”

The final player to put pen-to-paper is one of the Pitmen`s own in the form of Owen Turner, who has signed a deal with the first-team after progressing through the Hednesford Town Academy.

Turner has spent the summer training with the first-team squad, making a number of appearances during pre-season.

The manager added: “We have decided to add Owen to the squad, he is only 16 and has huge potential and a fantastic attitude.

“Owen will be part of the squad for the season whilst continuing to play academy football. He will benefit greatly from being in the environment for a full season, and by the time he gets to 17 will have gained vital experience. He has a very bright future and I can see him playing his part this year”.
